“At Cargill there are no limits. Promotion can be achieved in any position. When jobs become available, the opportunities are there for those who have demonstrated their desire to learn and proven their worth.”
I came back to France last year after spending several years in England. I am the manager of the site in Montoir-de-Bretagne. It’s a real challenge as it’s an ultra-modern site, a European showcase, which plays a key role in our oilseeds crushing activity. We transform approximately 900,000 tonnes of rapeseed grown locally into oil and oilcake for animal feed.
I began my career with Cargill eight years ago. I started from the bottom as an operator on the Graduate Programme. I worked with several managers who always had the same philosophy: have trust in the teams and always push them further in their personal development and performance. I was entrusted with projects where I had to prove my worth. I was given real autonomy while being able to call upon the company’s technical resources and the experience of more senior colleagues. My managers allowed me to develop in a structured manner and prepared me gradually for taking on a role as a plant manager, without me necessarily being aware of my progression.
At Cargill, there are no limits. Promotion can be achieved in any position. We have talented people throughout the company and in all positions. It is for us as managers to identify them and to assist them in their development, and for them to show what they’re worth and to have the courage to take on more responsibilities prior to an eventual promotion which follows naturally when positions become available.
